When Sam’s reckless, larger-than-life uncle dies, the family expects little more than debts, tall stories, and a few questionable souvenirs. Instead, Max leaves his entire estate to Sam, but with three tasks attached.

 

The first task sends Sam and his wife, Helen, to May La Noy, a remote mountain village in northern Thailand, where Max’s wild stories begin to look less like exaggeration and more like a life no one in the family ever understood.

 

What Sam finds there changes everything: a hidden family, an orphaned child, and proof that Max was never the irresponsible black sheep they believed him to be.

 

But the inheritance is only the beginning.

 

The second task uncovers a buried family secret in England.

 

The third will take Sam to eastern Peru, where he must finish the dangerous project Max started before he died.

 

To claim the estate, Sam must follow the trail Max left behind.
